Tyson Fury says he’s”ready for war” using Deontay Wilder in February despite worries the intense cuts endured in his eponymous triumph over Otto Wallin will delay their bout.
Talking to BBC Sport because he had been ushered through the airport at Las Vegas on Sunday, the 31-year British fighter said”only over 40 stitches” were needed for two cuts endured from Wallin on Saturday.
“I went to the hospital, had a few stitches, went home and had an early night,” he said.
“Then I have up, gone to the match , won five grand, had a few beers and today I’m likely to have a few more beers.”
Fury sported and his group were eager to get him through security at McCarran International Airportthat he stopped for photographs with fans who paid him compliments.
At least nine rounds were fought for by the fighter while cut in the T-Mobile Arena and got another cut.
The injury prompted promoter Frank Warren to say a projected 22 February rematch with WBC world heavyweight winner Wilder could be delayed if Fury doesn’t heal adequately.
Asked about a delay, Fury explained:”I am prepared for war. I think it was over 40 stitches indoors and out with the cuts.
“Listen I’m all perfect. It’s boxing. You can’t go swimming and never get wet. It is the fight game”
The promoters at the usa of fury have confirmed he’d 47 stitches in most after the bout, in regardless of being written off which Wallin took Fury into 12 rounds.
Throughout the struggle, Fury accommodated in only his battle back since coming into the sport.
Asked if this kind of test would further improve him before any Wilder assembly, he responded:”100% – 12 rounds would bring me on to the next battle.
“I thought it was difficult. He’s a lasting guy Wallin.
“We put on a great show for the Mexican fans and we got a huge audience, I was quite surprised.”
