Rangers director Steven Gerrard must wait to see how extended Ryan Kent will likely be out of action after he was injured to Livingston on Saturday.
Kent, who combined the Gers out of Liverpool on transfer deadline day in a deal worth around #7.5mimpressed while on loan at Ibrox last year and has been called PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year.
But he continued 41 minutes before coming off with a hamstring injury, to be replaced with fellow-summer signing Brandon Barker, who proceeded to score his first goal for the team.
The 22-year-old appears set to miss the Scottish Premiership match with St Johnstone on September 22, in Addition to Thursday’s Europa League match with Feyenoord.
Kent will be assessed from the week and Gerrard confessed his absence is going to be a blow.
“He’s got a hamstring [issue ] and we will look at this at the coming days and find out how bad it is,” Gerrard said after they arrived out of a goal-down to beat Livingston.
“Hopefully it isn’t quite as bad, hopefully it’s OK and it’s not a really serious one. We’ll know in a couple of days.
“it is a setback for us – we wanted it to be about Ryan now but it was not to be. But we have enough bodies enough talent to deal without him.”
Despite losing Kent through injury, Gerrard had been delighted with the donation made by his own replacement.
“The plan was always for Ryan to go 60 and Brandon to go 30, and I set it on all my match-winners in half-time and said’go-on – move and win the soccer game’, he informed the Rangers site.
“I believed Brandon did quite well and took his goal very well, and that would do his optimism great. Hopefully he could build that.”
