Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been honoured with a statue in his hometown Malmo in Sweden.
The statue was unveiled by the LA Galaxy striker Tuesday outside the Swedbank Stadion, in which he started his career 20 years back.
The statue stands almost three metres tall and depicts Ibrahimovic observing a goal.
You have players who win trophies. You have players who get statues. You then have players that receive both trophies and statues, explained Ibrahimovic, a child of Balkan immigrants to Sweden.
[Its] a symbol for people who dont feel welcome, do not fit in or believe that they do not look like everybody else.
If I can, they can. Im not special in any way, even though Im very good at what I do.
Prior to retiring from soccer in 2016, ibrahimovic scored 62 goals in 116 appearances for Sweden.
The 38-year-old is widely seen having enjoyed spells such as Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, Juventus and Manchester United.
