Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been honoured with a statue in his hometown of Malmo in Sweden.
The LA Galaxy striker introduced the statue on Tuesday outside the Swedbank Stadion, where he started his career 20 decades back.
Commissioned by the Swedish Football Association, the statue stands almost three metres tall and depicts Ibrahimovic celebrating a target.
Youve got players who win prizes. You have players that get statues. Then you have players that receive both trophies and statues, said Ibrahimovic, a child of Balkan immigrants to Sweden.
[Its] a logo for people who do not feel welcome, do not fit in or feel they dont look like everyone else.
If I can, they could. Im not special in any way, even though Im very good in what I do.
Ibrahimovic scored 62 goals before retiring from international soccer in 2016.
The 38-year-old is widely regarded as the Swedish player ever, with enjoyed spells at many of Europes best clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, Juventus and Manchester United.
