Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has criticised France manager Didier Deschamps after midfielder N’Golo Kante returned from duty.
Kante, who has featured in only a few of the eight Premier League games of Chelsea during an injury-hit start injure his groin during the warm-up for the Euro 2020 qualifier against Iceland of France Friday and was eliminated by the lineup.
Deschamps opted to maintain the 28-year-old with the French squad for the remainder of the global fracture, a decision which irked Lampard, who had lately engaged in a”light-hearted” back-and-forth with the France manager over striker Olivier Giroud’s shortage of game-time in Stamford Bridge.
“After the first game when he pulled out he then had a fitness evaluation the day before the next game, it was clear that he could not play” Lampard said after judgment Kante out of Chelsea’s match against Newcastle on Saturday.
“Then he sat on the seat on the night of this match, so that’s not communicating, therefore it’s not such a laughing matter”
“It’s more for Kante himself since he’s not an inexperienced player, he’s been round the block, he’s won World Cups, he has been a fantastic player, therefore I think that might have been treated better for sure.
“Our doctors were talking and there were some instances when things weren’t coming back to us since I would expect them to come back. That’s exactly what I mean about communicating.
“I know when players are on international responsibility that they’re their players as such, but it was quite obvious he was not fit to play so from our point of view we’d have desired him back to focus on him.”
Midfielders Mateo Kovacic and Ross Barkley are available, although lampard confirmed that Chelsea are also without defenders Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger for your trip of Newcastle.
Ahead of the worldwide fracture Premier League victories were recorded by Chelsea for the very first time beneath Lampard’s management.
