Virgil van Dijk insists there is no reason to fear about Liverpool’s defence.
After allowing a lead slip liverpool almost let the Nordic champions a famous comeback night.
The reigning European champions rallied to secure a 4-3 victory thanks to a second-half winner and Van Dijk has called for calm minds following the seven-goal thriller.
“Of course everyone would like to anxiety and anxiety and perhaps search for all of the negatives but we shouldn’t,” said Van Dijk.
“I’m not even looking at the negatives. We know we could do better but we are human beings and people can’t always play the perfect match. Occasionally it happens.
“So far we are doing fairly well this season. We shouldn’t overlook that after one night at which we were somewhat disorganised.
“There’s no cause for panic at all, we simply have to unwind, have a peek at what can be improved. It’s a good thing. We all know we still have to improve, however we will.
“We will analyse this, and we have another difficult match against Leicester on Saturday. But we have to be assured and keep doing what we do.”
Van Djik insists that he was always confident Liverpool would claim the three points after Erling Braut Haaland equalised about the hour for Salzburg.
“We know by now that we never stop trying. That’s how we’re. We stay composed, we know the opportunities we have if we remain composed and calm,” he added.
“We were 3-0 up and quite comfy and we put ourselves in a bit of a tricky position but we won, and that’s the most significant thing, particularly in the Champions League, in which not a great deal of teams could compete.
“We have to grind it out. We have the three points and that’s the most important thing.”
