香港大学药物生物技术国家重点实验室主任,香港大学抗体及免疫检测服务主任。
徐愛民教授主要從事針對肥胖、糖尿病及相關心血管併發症的研究及相關醫藥技術開發。他發現了抗糖尿病激素脂聯素的活性體,並率先揭示了脂聯素對脂肪肝及血管疾病的保護作用。在過去十多年,其團隊陸續發現並鑒定了多種與肥胖、糖尿病及心血管代謝綜合症發病原因有密切關係的脂肪分泌激素,研發成生物標誌物及相關檢測產品,用於上述慢性疾病的風險預測、早期分型診斷及治療評估。最近,他的團隊亦發現肝臟分泌的激素FGF21通過調節脂聯素,可被用作治療因肥胖而致的動脈粥樣硬化的潛在藥物。
