Joaquin Niemann has become the first Chilean to win on the PGA Tour when he Maintained a six-shot victory in the Greenbrier Classic in West Virginia.
Tied in the ninth hole after a bogey, the 20-year-old, who’d led for the majority of the afternoon, fell on the back nine, including three successive at the conclusion, because he shot a 64 at White Sulphur Springs.
Because he won the first tournament of this new PGA season at 259, a bogey at the 15th could stop his march.
Tom Hoge, who had chased Niemann all day, ended up at 15-under after a closing 65.
Brian Harman (65), Harris English (67), Nate Lashley (69) and Richy Werenski (69) were another shot further back.
