Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy has labelled Thursday Qualifier from Switzerland the match since his return into the project.
The Republic head to the battle with the Band D marching understanding they face their sternest test yet at the Aviva Stadium, although sitting top of the heap with 10 points from a possible 12.
Asked if it had been the greatest game as he took over from Martin O’Neill last November, McCarthy said:”Oh of course, yes, even undoubtedly, yes.
“We have had our very first games – we have done well in these – but Switzerland and Denmark are arguably the top two teams and we’ve got one of them playing (on Thursday) night”
McCarthy will try to guarantee a victory on the negative ranked 11th in the world with a senior goal to their name.
He insisted that he does not care where the targets get.
The 60-year-old stated:”I’m not bothered in which they come out, but I think that the strikers might argue that. They’d like to evaluate the targets.
“But should they come off and we’ve won, I don’t think anyone’s bothered, and which is going to be the same (on Thursday night) when we win.
“Nobody is going to be bothered who scores.”
Right-back Seamus Coleman has spoken about the lack of Liverpool’s Xherdan Shaqiri following the winger made himself unavailable for selection for the national group.
Enjoys that it will be tough game, despite the exclusion of Shaqiri.
He said:”Look, he’s a dangerous player. He’s among those who evaluate a goal before you know it and can turn on it.
“Obviously it’s a boost for us that he’s not playing.
“However, a group of quality will have people to come in and replace him. I know that it’s boring, but we just need to focus on ourselves”
