PFA’s Jason Lee says racist abuse of players on social media has reached crisis point

Jason Lee of the Professional Footballers’ Association believes we’ve reached crisis stage as misuse of gamers on social networking continues.
Former striker Lee the Equalities Education Executive of the PFA, was talking after Reading striker Yakou Meite, Tammy Abraham and Paul Pogba were targeted on networking platforms.
The Manchester United Charlton’s along with team-mate Marcus Rashford Lyle Taylor of pogba have been subjected to racist abuse on the web.
Lee, who played for Nottingham Forest and Watford, welcomed to help eradicate players’ abuse, but believes .
“We have come to a point where it is crisis so far as we are concerned,” Lee told Sky Sports News.
“Everyone should arrive at the table, so we need to attempt to thrash it out and come to some conclusion and attempt to eliminate what it’s going on.
“To be fair to Twitter, they would have been among the first to reach out to us and we have had two meetings with them and they were positive meetings.
“Coming out of this, they’ve demonstrated a genuine willingness to work together and enhance things and also to participate with the players.
“It’s important they speak to the players right. We can all speak on behalf of players but more importantly, if there’s a dialogue we’ve established and opened, [it can] give gamers the chance to voice their issues to the horse’s mouth.”
Twitter also have released a statement in which they confirmed they will keep working with all the PFA and the organisation Kick It Out to attempt to prevent abuse of gamers.
“In the past two weeks, we’ve taken action on more than 700 illustrations of misuse and hateful behavior associated with UK soccer,” it read.
“This vile content has no place on the services. We will continue to take action on the minority that try to undermine the dialogue for most.
“Working with the PFA, we will participate in their player training programme also will be linking a series of educational sessions with its own membership to encourage the PFA’s ambition to tackle the situation.
“Dealing with Kick It Out, we will continue our working relationship with UK policing to additional short them and offer training on our policies, procedures and committed 24/7 reporting stations to law enforcement.
“we would like to play our part in curbing this unacceptable behavior – both offline and online – and will keep on engaging with partners and clubs, protecting the dialogue from misuse, and taking quick action on accounts that violate our rules”
