Rory McIlroy endures a bad day in Dubai after shooting 10 shots higher than first day

Rory McIlroy vowed to get back on track over the weekend at the DP World Tour Championship after his hopes of a win of this year took a bang after a minute round.
McIlroy was only one off the head overnight following his 64 on Thursday, however he had 10 more shots to reconcile the Earth Course on Friday as he slipped six shots behind pioneer Mike Lorenzo-Vera.
The world No 2 looked out of sorts early and, after five launching pars, he found water in the tee at the short first and ran up a double-bogey before becoming back one in the seventh, just to fall additional shots at the 10th and 13th, at which he fluffed a chip and did well to restrict the harm to some four.
McIlroy almost pitched in for eagle at the 14th and settled for a tap-in birdie, but following another good save at 17he push his driveway in the last also far right and found water, although he was able to come across the green with a fairway-wood along with two-putt to salvage a par-five to keep at six under.
Clearly I simply didnt really have it now, said McIlroy, whos playing in his final event of the year before taking a two-month break through the winter. The end was up just a bit, there was lots of into-off-the-right storms, and I had been hoping to maintain them up and that I had been shedding them left a bit. Attempt to figure out that and I only need to do a little work on the range.
But I hung in there now. Today went across the edges of these holes, and that I didnt know the rough was as bad as it was. I was hitting it in the fairway most of the week, however I hit it and it turned out a bit more difficult.
I wasnt quite there. The end was tricky and the class played with a little more tricky, but obviously I didnt really play as well as yesterday. It is a really game. I have always said that one day it could seem very simple and someone up there saysnot so quickly, and brings you back down to earth. That is golf!
However, I battled through it and Im still in with a shout to have a go at winning this championship. I just have to stick the head over the weekend and get out there and attempt to shoot a couple of good scores.
