Sir Andrew Strauss has been appointed as the England and Wales Cricket Board committee’s chair.
Strauss, who was this week knighted in the resignation honours of Theresa May, gave up his position as director of championships last year to spend some time Ruth.
The captain has continued to work with all the organisation, in addition to setting up the Ruth Strauss Foundation, and has agreed to seat the ECB cricket .
He replaced Peter Wright, who has been in place for the previous nine decades.
“This is a true pleasure to return to ECB in this new capacity. ECB and the whole cricket family are a critical source of support over a very difficult year and it’s truly good to be back at Lord’s, a place that’s become a second home to me,” Strauss said.
“I am extremely passionate about creating and increasing cricket in England and Wales and that I look forward to working together with my colleagues on the cricket committee to continually drive all aspects of the professional game, including women’s, men’s and handicap cricket.
“I’ve seen firsthand how this summer cricket has motivated more people to fall in love with the game and I can not wait to help build on its achievement.”
